When Should I get a Will done? Sooner or later we all die...

So I met with a couple yesterday who said

"OH, WE HAVE AT LEAST 20 MORE YEARS BEFORE WE DIE..."

What?!?!?

Are you kidding me?

Seriously people, we don't know when we're going to die.

Now is the time to get your estate planning done.

Not in 20 years.

You might be dead by then...

And these folks are in their 50's...

Yup,

You'll see.

Now is the time to get that will drafted.

You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for visiting the blog.

Come back and visit soon.

What is an Ancillary Probate Case? Utah Attorney explains...

Hey Guys --

I'm at it again.

Trying to answer probate questions.

This one is fun.

Have you ever heard of an ancillary probate case before?

Weird right?

Check out this video:

So what did you think?

Did I explain it well enough for you to understand?

You need an ancillary probate case when the person who died in Utah owns property in another state that needs to be administered through the other state’s probate court.

That is as concise as I can explain it.

Please tell me your questions about the law or legal system that are burning to be answered.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you soon.

What is a Trust for estate planning purposes?

Have you ever heard that you need a "Trust"?

I mean, what is a trust anyway?

A trust is a legal entity that exists only in the contemplation of law.  It is ficticious.  It does exist.  It is like a real live person, but it really only exists on paper.

Watch this video and tell me what you think:

A trust was first created under the laws of England when knights would "trust" their neighbors while they left on crusades for Christianity and when they came back, their things which were held in "trust" were given back to them.  You know my law school professor didn't tell me this, I actually learned this from Jeremy Eveland, who told me about it and then I verified that it was true!!  The laws in the United States came from (or were based on) that laws of England originally, so that's how we in Utah eventually got our Trust law from.

Do you need a trust like the knights of England?

Maybe you do.

Maybe you don't.

You ought to speak with an attorney about it.

Since you are here visiting my blog, I suggest that you call my office and scheudle a time for a free consultation.

What is a Will? 801-676-5507 Utah Estate Planning Attorney Mike Anderson explains

A will is something that you need for your estate plan.

Remember, if you don't have a plan, I promise you that the government has one for you.

Watch my youtube video by clicking here on this link and let me know your thoughts.

A last will and testament (commonly called a "will") is a statement of what you want to have happen to your personal property and your real property when you die.  It tells the administrator of your estate (we used to call them "executors") what to do with your things.

If you need help with a will or a trust, please give me a call

I've seen some crazy things over the years.  Let me help you with your things.

I'd be honored to assist you with your estate plan.

Thanks for visiting.

Hope to see you soon.

Profile - Michael R. Anderson, JD - Utah Business Attorney 801-676-5507

I thought about how I could best tell people about myself and it occurred to me that I am nothing like the other attorneys out there.  I am an entrepreneur at heart and that’s what I love.

I could make a VERY L O N G list of all of my educational attainments and how great and wonderful I am, but that truth is – I’m just like you.  I’ve done some great stuff, but I’ve done some cruddy stuff too.  I’ve worked hard, but so have you.  What’s important about me is that I can help you.  That’s it.  Nothing more.  I can get the job done.  That’s what I’m good at.

People who want a lot of Bull go to a Butcher. People who want results navigating a complex legal field go to a Lawyer that they can trust.

That’s where I come in. I am Michael Anderson, an Attorney in the Salt Lake area focusing on the needs of the Average Joe wanting a better life for him and his family. I’m the Lawyer you can trust.

I grew up in Utah and love it here. I am a Father to three, a Husband to one, and an Entrepreneur. I understand the feelings of joy each of those roles bring, and I understand the feeling of disappointment, fear, and regret when things go wrong.

I have focused my practice in Wills, Trusts, Real Estate, and Business Law. I love the thrill of helping clients secure their future, leaving a real legacy to their children. Unfortunately when problems arise with families. I also practice Family Law, with a focus on keeping relationships between the soon to be Ex’s civil for the benefit of their children and allowing both to walk away quickly with their heads held high.

My regular website is slcestateplanning.com and I work with guardian-law.com

Before you worry too much about losing everything that you have worked for, before you permit yourself to be bullied by your soon to be ex, before you shed one more tear in silence, call me. I’m the Lawyer you can trust.

No Bull.

Call me when you’re ready for a lawyer who cares and works hard.

Until then, I’ll see you soon !
